Artists also are greatly interested in releasing their latest works or albums to their official web sites eagerly as it generate more fans and make their albums more popular. But very rarely they allow download facilities. By using internet you can find your favorite music artist or favorite piece of music by just a click of a button. Although there are plenty of sites that provide download facilities for music, there are very few that offer free downloads or affordable downloads. As I have heard the web site Amazon consists of a wide collection of songs and it allows you to download them at an affordable rate. You have to think about whether the download is legal and the quality of the sound track before purchasing them online. Many people find that it is economical to purchase music online than purchasing from a local store. If you can download any song within few seconds for an affordable price from online, then why you should waste your time visiting local stores. But you might have to be very careful while downloading the music online sometimes there may be false sites that consist of viruses that are harmful to your computer. Apart from songs, ring tones have been widely downloaded by young people. Some of the sites that offer free music downloads are, CC Mixter, Dogmazic, Jamendo, Internet Archive’s Audio Archive and Free Music Archive. Some sites have monthly subscription fee and some costs per track basis. Some few examples for such types are emusic, AmazonMP3, iTunes and Napster. Before pay and download the music it is always better if you go for trial period if the web site allows.

The Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu, said that Zimbabwe’s president Robert Mugabe must be forced out of office and face trial for his crimes against humanity.

“The time has come for Robert Mugabe to answer for his crimes against humanity, against his countrymen and women and for justice to be done. The winds of change that once brought hope to Zimbabwe and its neighbours have become a hurricane of destruction, with the outbreak of cholera, destitution, starvation and systemic abuse of power by the state,” said Sentamu.

Sentamu that the power-sharing deal that was signed by Mugabe and the Zimbabwean opposition in September was “now dead”.

Dr Sentamu’s statement comes after a severe cholera outbreak spread in Zimbabwe, and saw 12,545 cases reported and 565 people dead.

Wikinews extended invitations by e-mail on March 23 to multiple candidates running in the Texas’ 6th congressional district special election of May 1 to fill a vacancy left upon the death of Republican congressman Ron Wright. Of them, the office of Democrat Daryl Eddings, Sr. agreed to answer some questions by phone March 30 about their campaigns and policies. The following is the interview with Ms Chatham on behalf of Mr Eddings, Sr.

Eddings is a federal law enforcement officer and senior non-commissioned officer in the US military. His experience as operations officer of an aviation unit in the California National Guard includes working in Los Angeles to control riots sparked by the O. J. Simpson murder case and the police handling of Rodney King, working with drug interdiction teams in Panama and Central America and fighting in the Middle East. He is the founder of Operation Battle Buddy, which has under his leadership kept in touch with over 20 thousand veterans and their families. He was born in California, but moved to Midlothian, Texas. He endeavours to bring “good government, not no government”. Campaign manager Faith Chatham spoke to Wikinews on matters ranging from healthcare to housing.

An Inside Elections poll published on March 18 shows Republican candidate Susan Wright, the widow of Ron Wright, is ahead by 21% followed by Democrat Jana Sanchez with 17% and Republican Jake Ellzey with 8% with a 4.6% margin of error among 450 likely voters. The district is considered “lean Republican” by Inside Elections and voted 51% in favour of Donald Trump in last year’s US presidential election. This is down from 54% for Trump in 2016’s presidential election, the same poll stated.

Philippine Foreign Secretary Del Rosario to visit China amid South China Sea territorial dispute

Philippine Foreign Secretary Del Rosario to visit China amid South China Sea territorial dispute

Posted: June 22nd, 2022 by Admin

Sunday, July 3, 2011

Philippines Foreign Secretary Albert del Rosario is scheduled to visit China from July 7 to 9, raising hopes that a territorial dispute between the two countries may be resolved.

A six-nation dispute has escalated in the sea concerning territorial claims to several islands including the Spratly Islands. The area is thought to be rich in natural gas and oil. Both the Philippines and China wish to have a peaceful resolution to this conflict. “I’ve been invited to Beijing and we’re looking for peaceful means to settle the challenges facing us,” said Del Rosario.

The news comes after the United States and the Philippines began a series of naval exercises last week in the South China Sea, scheduled to last for 11 days. A Philippine military commander stated that the drills are part of an annual series of activities taking place under a defense agreement between the two countries and have nothing to do with the territorial dispute.

The Philippines maintains a close relation with the U.S. as a former territory of the nation.

The drills come at a time when several competing disputes in the South China Sea have begun to intensify. “Since February 25th, we actually have noted as many as nine intrusions of different varieties, but clearly becoming more aggressive and more frequent,” said Del Rosario. Several countries in Asia, including China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia, and Taiwan, have territorial claims in the area spanning the Spratly and Paracel Islands. The region may be rich in oil and gas reserves. The US and Philippines have urged the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to address the conflict.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has argued that the United States would remain neutral regarding the disputes. She has also said that the United States has a “national interest” in freedom of navigation, respect for international law, and unimpeded, lawful commerce in the South China Sea.” Both countries are bound by a 1951 Mutual Defense Treaty.

On June 27, the US Senate unanimously passed a motion condemning “the use of force by naval and maritime security vessels from China in the South China Sea.” China, on the other hand, has stated that it will not use force to resolve disputes in the South China Sea.

Sub-prime lenders send jitters through global markets

Sub-prime lenders send jitters through global markets

Posted: June 21st, 2022 by Admin

Tuesday, March 13, 2007

Just two weeks after China sent global markets into a tumble, growing worries about sub-prime mortgage lenders in the United States are sending jitters through stock exchanges around the globe. The three major US stock market indices each fell two percent from Monday’s closing price, marking the second-biggest loss of 2007. London’s FTSE 100, Paris’ CAC 40 and Frankfurt’s DAX 30 indices each closed down more than 1 percent.

As the Mortgage Bankers Association reported that late payments on mortgages and home foreclosures in the US homes rose in the fourth quarter to their highest level in years, investors are concerned that not only US banks but also multi-national banks around the globe could have exposure.

More than two dozen sub-prime lenders have closed or sold operations as defaults on those mortgages have risen. “The delinquencies and defaults have started to soar,” said Nicolas Retsinas, director of Housing Studies at Harvard University. “A lot of these lenders started to make loans and lost track of some of the fundamentals.”

New Century Financial Corporation, the second largest sub-prime lender in the US, has recently revealed that its creditors were no longer providing funds and, further, it has become subject of an SEC investigation. The New York Stock Exchange has said it will delist New Century. Accredited Home Loan Lending, another major sub-prime mortgage specialist, said it was seeking fresh capital and waivers on its lending covenants.

Sub-prime lenders provide mortgages to people who do not qualify for loans from mainstream lenders, typically due to their credit histories. The lenders then bundle these mortgages as collateral for loans that they obtain from other financing firms, such as GMAC. Such firms can then repackage these loans and sell them as mortgage-backed securities. These securities may end up in the hands of major multi-national banks such as Citibank, HSBC, and Commerzbank. Each level of lending assumes a level of financial risk, but trouble can arise when the risk tolerances are exceeded. If too many homeowners default on their mortgages, the sub-prime lender can end up defaulting. If too many of these lenders default, as it is feared may be happening now, the defaults can cascade upward. While no one is predicting major bank failures at this point, it is feared that their profits could be hurt.

A380 makes maiden flight to US

A380 makes maiden flight to US

Posted: June 21st, 2022 by Admin

Monday, March 19, 2007

The Airbus A380, the world’s largest passenger plane, was set to land in the United States of America on Monday after a test flight. One of the A380s is flying from Frankfurt to Chicago via New York; the airplane will be carrying about 500 people.

It is being billed as the first time it has carried a near-normal number of passengers, though most will be staff of Airbus and German airline Lufthansa.

A second A380 is also travelling to the U.S. on Monday, but without passengers. This will be branded as a Qantas flight and fly from Frankfurt to Los Angeles LAX airport. The first leg of the flight going towards New York will be travelling under a Lufthansa flight number, and is due to arrive at New York’s John F. Kennedy airport at 12:30 EST (16:30 UTC).

The test flights are being used to monitor everything from how easily the plane docks at the terminal gate to the way the in-flight dining and entertainment services work. Deliveries to Singapore Airlines, its launch customer, are not due until October – two years late.

Delays of the production of the A380 have cost Airbus more than 6 billion dollars. Airbus has warned there could be additional charges to come.

These monetary problems have led to a recently-announced restructuring program at Airbus, called Power8, in which 10,000 jobs go and several factories will be sold to Airbus partners. France will lose 4,300 jobs, followed by Germany having a loss of 3,700 jobs, while the United Kingdom and Spain will see 1,600 and 400 jobs cut respectively.

The Belgian government has announced that it will give up to 150 million (US$ 199 million) in aid to help sub-contractors which supply Airbus and employ thousands of workers.

Financial Advisor Designations: Spotlight On Estate Planning Specialist

Posted: June 19th, 2022 by Admin

By Cory Bowman

There are a variety of financial advisor designations out there to choose from when deciding on a program or certificate that will enhance your business practice or simply grow your personal knowledge. One financial advisor designation that can be very useful is the designation of estate planning specialist. An estate planning specialist, (someone who is Board Certified in Estate PlanningTM) understands the basics of estate planning and is well-versed in real-world examples.

For example, an estate planning specialist should be familiar with different types of shares as well as current financial news that relates to mutual funds – A, B, and C shares are the most common types of shares. In general, A or C shares result in higher returns if less than $100,000 is invested. Class A shares are the favored choice if $100,000 or more is invested. In most instances, B shares are the second best choice if less than $100,000 is invested.

During 2006, the NASD imposed more than $40 million of fines on brokerage firms for improperly selling B and C mutual fund shares. During the early part of 2007, the SEC acknowledged that one of its key arguments no longer exists; the agency had assumed A shares were always better than B shares. The NASD commission now believes that cost alone is not the only decision in making investment recommendations.

Most of the lawsuits against brokerage firms were based on one of three things: (1) failure to tell clients that A shares can be cheaper than B shares, (2) fraud, and/or (3) suitability. In a 2007 case dropped by the SEC, the agency acknowledged that even at the $250,000 breakpoint, B shares may not be more expensive for the client than A shares. One broker, now retired, spent $400,000 in legal fees and lost $1.6 million in deferred compensation in 2001 when his broker-dealer fired him over the sale of B shares. In late 2005, a NYSE arbitration panel ordered the firm to pay the terminated broker all deferred compensation plus legal fees.

Financial Advisor Designations: Reviewing Performance

As a financial advisor, including specialists in estate planning, one must be able to look at different investment options, review performance of the options, and make investment suggestions to help clients reach their goals. Over the last few years a number of different asset categories have performed quite well and investors do have a choice, depending upon their objectives, time horizon, tax bracket, level of risk and ability to make a lump-sum or periodic payments. Some investment vehicles that an investor may have to choose from are: (1) individual securities, (2) exchange-traded funds (ETFs), (3) exchange-traded notes (ETNs), (4) enhanced appreciation notes (EANs), (5) closed-end funds (CEFs), (6) real estate investment trusts (REITs), (7) unit investment trusts (UITs), (8) annuities and/or (9) open-end mutual funds.

Courses for financial advisor designations should provide insight into how multiple investment vehicles can be used to construct a unique and effective series of diversified portfolios. Financial advisors should help their clients understand the workings of mutual funds – once the clients understand how mutual funds work, it is doubtful they will want to use anything else for the bulk of their portfolio. Mutual funds are truly one of the best investment vehicles ever created. The types of assets open-end mutual funds invest in provide the flexibility, returns and risk level that clients are generally looking for.

The Chicago White Sox scored a narrow 5–4 victory Monday against the Detroit Tigers after White Sox player A.J. Pierzynski scored a go-ahead run in extra innings. The go-ahead run gave the White Sox two extra runs.

“We’re just finding ways to win games. We’re battling. We’re not giving at-bats away,” Pierzynski, catacher for the White Sox, said after the game.

Though the White Sox led 3–2 in the fourth inning, Mark Kotsay got out at home plate when attempting to get the White Sox a fourth run. Later, Tiger Don Kelly scored a home run, pushing the Tigers up to a lead of 4–2. The homer had both Kelly and Miguel Cabrera scoring a run each. The White Sox also hit a run in the eighth inning.

Also notable was that rookie relief pitcher Chris Sale won his first game after pitching in the tenth inning. Sale, who is on the Sox, earned praise from Chicago manager Ozzie Guillen, who said “very, very pleasant surprise. Very, very nice.”
